CIMA is introducing an updated syllabus for its professional qualification and new assessment methods which will take effect from January 2015.
The 2015 syllabus is competency-based retaining the 2010 syllabus structure with its pillars and levels. CIMA have added new material such as ‘Big Data’, sustainability, integrated reporting and finance function transformation. CIMA have strengthened existing themes on costing and cost management, and carried the topic of ‘risk’ through all levels of the syllabus. CIMA have also adjusted the weightings of some syllabus topics.
As a result of this change, in the new syllabus you will be required to achieve a minimum of 70% on the new Objective Tests and 60% on the Integrated Case Studies in order to pass.
The CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting is ideal for people who are new to the world of business qualifications because it offers a solid grounding in the basics of management accounting, financial accounting and business. It is also a stepping stone towards the CIMA Professional Qualification.
There are five subject areas in the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting that you must successfully complete:

Your performance is tested by Computer Based Assessment (CBA), which offers three main benefits; you can be assessed at your nearest CBA centre whenever you’re ready, your results and feedback are available immediately and if you need to, you can re-sit at a time and place that suits you.

The CIMA professional qualification comprises three pillars of domain knowledge divided into three levels of achievement. The syllabus and related assessment will ensure that CIMA qualified finance professional are competent in their accounting, finance and other skills, and confident in using them to add value to their employer.
To complete the CIMA qualification, and be able to use the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA©) designation, trainees need to:

Meet the entry requirement of the professional level qualification

Study for and complete the relevant professional level assessment, culminating in the Strategic Case Study exam

Complete three years of relevant practical experience
