The Operational level is the first level of the professional qualification and consists of four exams, outlined below.
By passing the level, you will gain the CIMA Diploma in Management Accounting.

The Operational level comprises 3 Objective Tests papers (E1, F1 and P1) and 1 Case Study.
The Objective Test papers are 90 minute computer based exams consisting of 60 questions where you get a scaled score between 0 and 150. In order to pass you need a score of 100 or above.

E1 - Organisational management
You will learn how to:
- Analyse issues and events in the global business environment.
- Develop an understanding of the structure and principles sustaining the operational functions of the organisation.
- Align and mobilise all its parts to implement strategy.
F1 - Financial reporting and taxation
You will learn how to:
- Use budgeting as a means of short-term planning to implement the strategy of the organisation.
- Analyse information of costs, volumes and prices to take short-term decisions on products and services.
- Appreciate the impact of risk to these decisions.
P1 - Management accounting
You will learn how to:
- Use budgeting as a means of short-term planning to implement the strategy of the organisation.
- Analyse information of costs, volumes and prices to take short-term decisions on products and services.
- Appreciate the impact of risk to these decisions.
P1 is the lead paper at the Operational level and ideally should be sat after E1 and F1 and left until last before attempting the case study
When you have sat and passed the Objective Test exams (E1, F1 and P1) you will progress onto the Operational Case Study which is a 3 hour computer based exam where you are required to respond to a pre-seen case study.
You will receive a scaled score between 0 and 150, where to pas yo need to score 80 or above.

- Create reports and emails
- Apply the knowledge you have gained in the three subjects to reflect real-life work situations.
